De doua ori am incercat sa deslusesc care e faza......Nu am reusit sa-l vad pana la final.Mi s-a parut un film reusit la inceput dar apoi se pierde in labirintul fara inteles care s-e creeaza de pe la jumatatea filmului incolo....Dezamagitor,iar genul asta de filme care incep bine dar vor sa se dea mai altfel sunt cele mai nesuferite de mine.Nota 4.

Apropo, de la mesajul autocitat mai sus au trecut trei ani... Intre timp, Collins l-a cunoscut pe Aronofsky la un workshop la Sarajevo si a zis cä-i un tip mult mai cool decât ar pärea de-aici.

The Fountain mi s-a parut ok de la un capat la altul daca il iei ca pe un fantasy; dar cand a inceput sa arate maimuta... n-a mai fost ok; adica mi s-a parut o schimbare cuidata de registru, ciudata si ilara.

Eu am senzatia ca e posibil ca acest film sa aiba, totusi, un sens. Spun asta pentru ca de la prima vizionare si pana in prezent, si dupa ce am scormonit prin toate colturile internetului, filmul imi apare de 1000 de ori mai limpede decat la inceput. De aceea, cred ca e posibil ca prin nu stiu ce colturi ale planetei, sa fie cineva pentru care filmul chiar are noima.
Dar chiar si fara un sens inteligibil, numai ca poezie audio-vizuala, ce poate fi doar simtita, pentru mine filmul inseamna o atmosfera de un nivel spiritual ce nu l-a mai atins niciun alt film, si o iubire de o profunzime ce transcende ecranul.


PS: O perspectiva interesanta intr-un comentariu de pe IMDb:

" Yes! I finally figured it out! (spoilers obviously)

1. The story begins in 2000, and Tom Creo is trying to save his wife, who is dying from cancer. During his search for a cure, he stumbles upon the fabled Tree of Life. When his wife dies, he becomes enraged and afraid of death ("Death is a disease") and begins researching the Tree.

2. Obviously, he fails in his research, but since he's so *beep* afraid of death ("Please, please, I'm afraid") he begins to feed off the Tree, prolonging his lifespan, but slowly killing the Tree in the process.

3. Somewhere near 2500 the Tree can't take it anymore and says goodbye to Creo. Since Creo failed in his quest for immortality, humanity is now extinct, and he is the "Last Man". In a vain attempt to bring the Tree back to life Creo takes it to Xibalba, because he thinks the light of the supernova would re-energize it ("Somewhere behind those clouds is a dying star... You will bloom again"). He does so not because he wants to resurrect his long-dead wife as many suggested, but to get immortality for himself ("And I will live").

4. As he slowly approaches the dying nebula in his "eco-spaceship", the memories of his wife begin to haunt him. He hates those memories ("Leave me, leave me alone!") and tries to rationalize his own behavior back in 2000 ("Hey, what are you doing here? I have work to do" - multiple times).

5. The "ghost" of his wife (really just a figment of his own sub-consciousness) tries to tell him that death is not a disease, but rather a road to awe, and that if he dies now, they will still "live forever, together".

6. These words are further evidenced by the fact that Creo, now supposed to be all buddhist and "enlightened", has already remembered one of his past lives, when he was a conquistador at the court of the Queen of Spain. His wife also seemed to remember that past life and even wrote a book about it, the titular "Fountain".

7. Up until the end nothing suggests that conquistador Tomas and Tommy Creo are the same person, but then the "enlightened" mayan priest sees the vision of the future (Creo in his spaceship) and tells the movie audiences that Tomas is the First Father (meaning that he will become a First Father in 2500).

8. In 2500, Creo finally puts on the ring he dropped in his past life and dies, re-energizing the Tree and creating a whole new universe in the process (or at least according to the mayan creation myth), thus finally becoming a First Father.

9. It is presumed that he and Izzy are both resurrected in the next life, but will probably make the same mistakes all over again.

Additional questions
In one of the last scenes taking place in 2500, Creo first screams in anger at his wife's "ghost" ("Leave me, leave me alone!"), but then sees Queen Izabel in her place, and his expression suddenly changes to that of sad happiness. Why?
Because up until that moment Creo didn't realize that the Queen of Spain and Izzy were the same reincarnated being (the fact that they share the same appearance in the film is just a visual metaphor). Thus, he didn't believe in being "together, forever". But then he enters the final stage of his "buddhist enlightenment" and understands that not only he himself was reincarnated, but his wife too. At this very moment, he excepts death, excepts the ring of the Queen instead of Izzy's ring he lost (since both women are the same entity anyway ) and dies in peace. "

Eu, de fapt, sun sigur ca filmul are un sens. Nu ma pune sa explic ca nu sunt in stare inca, dar simt ca sunt aproape. Un sens pe care tu, Cretulescu si altii( no offense; nu o spun ca sa atac ci asa vad eu lucrurile) care au abordat filmul cu o bascalie direct proportionala cu profunzimea sa, nu au cum sa-l priceapa.

Hehe, n-am zis cä nu l-am priceput, dimpotrivä. Doar cä-n prima parte e excesiv de confuz, iar în a doua, pueril de explicit. Afirmatia mea din titlu era mai mult retoricä.

Va rugam sa vorbiti pe romaneste,fiindca ati reusit sa faceti o confuzie.Nu toata lumea este asa de capabila ca DVS si vorba aia, daca tot suntem pe aici crec ca ar trebui sa vorbiti romaneste nu culturale de ultima oracare se aseamana cu vorbirea parlamentara din care reiese ca e criza si restul => REZULTA spre ce zic eu.

Sincer ,cred ca cele 5 decenii v-au schimbat intr-un fel ssau altul dar ,va rugam domnu critic sa vorbim sa inteleaga majoritatea.Daca nu atunci abtinetiva pt. Jobul dvs,.

Asa seamana a MB dar cel putin omul se explica ,face urat si isi pune si pene ..atunci cand vorbeste despre asa ceva:

Aveam chef sa vorbesc despre alteceva dar mi-au sarit ochii pe acest subiect si cum filmul acesta este preferatul meu,m-am hotarat,totusi,sa dezvolt putin,oricum am chef sa scriu....
Daca a placut sau nu este chestie de nuanta si pt. mine nu are nicio importanta,nici parerea "criticului"nici a celor de pe forum-pe care nici nu ma obosesc sa le citesc.
Consider ca a gusta acest film ai nevoie de un anumit simtamant-pe care nu pot sa-l numesc-ceea ce observ ca nu e comun multora,mai ales acolo unde ai asteptari.
Vrei un film despre dragoste,despre moarte,despre nemurire,toate la un loc si in acelasi timp?Cam cum crezi ca ar putea fi realizat?Hop-top punem un povestitor sa nareze despre o intamplare logica,coerenta,sa inteleaga tot omul si tot platitorul de bilet?
Exista in mintea si in simtirea fiecaruia o limita,dincolo de care nu mai exista cuvinte.De acolo incepe magia-arta,ceea ce te misca,ce iti trezeste un altul care dormea,care incepe sa te incante sau sa te incomodeze-dupa caz.Unii ii pun calus,nu vor sa-l auda,pt ca nu-l pot intelege,altii se lasa prinsi in mreje si au de castigat-minute,ore de extaz....Nu este o pastila,nici un pahar cu ceva,este un film-o traire,o emotie.
Hai sa o disecam:
Un barbat iubeste o femeie,un sentiment miraculos RAR intalnit in natura,nespecefic regnului animal,rezervat si daruit exclusivist OMULUI.Femeia reprezinta idealul.Idealul este pe cale de a se termina.Barbatul,profanul se lupta sa-l pastreze,dar acesta -idealul-aluneca,prin timp,prin spatiu,prin ireal.Un lucru este cert iubirea nu are capat,viata este lucrul trecator,omul este condamnat la trecere dar aspira sa ramana,se lupta,se incapataneaza,refuza resemanarea.
Femeia moare,dar ramane urma,ceea ce tine barbatul in existenta-chiar si una utopica-altfel nu ar mai avea niciun sens.
Ce nu putem intelege?Ca suntem limitati,ca singura sansa este renasterea?Ca in samanta(ceea ce inseamna intotdeauna 2-asa este alcatuit acest univers-)sta salvarea?
Nicaieri nu apare a treia persoana(Dumnezeu!?!)in aceasta ecuatie,rezultatul se invarte mereu in jurul acestei variabile,crestem,ne inmultim,revenim,retraim.Ametitor,inutil,magnific, legati de cultura,de teluric,de religie,prin timp,prin generatii.
Cate filme,cate carti,cata muzica exista care sa nu contina iubirea(aceasta anosta,banala,desueta dintre barbat si femeie?)Eu cred ca nu prea multe.De ce oare?Ce inspira arta,de ce traim,de ce muncim,de ce ne ucidem si de ce suntem capabili de fapte extraordinare?
Acest film este despre iubire si despre propagarea ei prin timp si spatiu,prin realitate si imaginatie,desprea refuzul spiritului de a pune capat,despre existenta,despre constiinta,despre efemeritaea noastra.In acest amalgam de sfarsituri,ramane o singura constanta IUBIREA.
Nu sunt adepta siropurilor si nu vad acest sentiment redus la o acuplare penibila datatoare de simtaminte carnale ci fix asa cum, este descrisa aici in film-acaparatoare,cerebrala,ideala,invingatoare.
Criticii ma vor face praf acum pentru ca am avut prostul chef sa-mi placa acest"kitch"care nu se compara cu marea arta a anilor 60-70 in alb si negru,ca nu m-am referit in mod erudit la simbolistica biblica si mayasa la care este musai sa ai un doctorat,ca nu am avut chef sa disec detaliile tehnice,cum a stat ala cu camera,cum a flegmat maimuta,cum arata Rachel tunsa,cum iti spargea timpanele muzica lui Mansel (care,dupa umila mea parere de "novice"ii cam bate la c...ur pe multi compzitori),cum facea Aronufsky campanie anticipata PDL-ului etc...
Ce vreti domnilor,eu merg la cinema,ma asez pe scaun si ma uit....la un film,nu la o lectie de cinematografie.
